Neck is the organ that starts
showing the effects of age earlier than any other organ in human beings. The
excess fat and skin around the neck takes ugly shapes and begins to affect the
self esteem and appearance. Cervicoplasty
is the name of the surgical procedure used for the removal of excess fat and
skin in and around the neck region. This procedure is also known as ‘neck
lift’. Cervicoplasty can be done along with other cosmetic surgeries like face
lift, brow lift etc. This procedure is usually performed on individuals above
the age of forty. It is better that some small adjustments may be made to the
neck at an early date so that a youthful appearance can be maintained for
longer periods without much difficulty and cost.
Most neck lift procedures are carried out under general anesthesia.
Usually two incisions are made under or behind the ear. Through these incisions
the extra fat is removed by the surgeon either directly or by liposuction
procedure. The loose band of muscles is tightened and excess muscles are
removed thereby making the contour more natural. This surgery may last for one
or two hours depending upon the procedures you are undergoing. After the surgery you will be coming out with
a compression bandage which has to be worn for one week or as suggested by your
surgeon. After about two or three weeks the swellings and other difficulties
will vanish and you will feel very happy for getting back your youthful and
energetic appearance.
