Bat
year correction also known as pinnaplasty is a cosmetic surgery intended to
carry out the repositioning and
reshaping of the ear positioned
improperly and adjusting the size of the ear so that it looks natural. It does
not involve the reduction of the size of the ear. A healthy person who faces the problem of bad
positioning of ear as well as bad shape of the year can opt for this procedure.
Surgical
procedure: This surgery is usually carried out under local anesthesia. This
procedure can be carried out for a single ear or for both the ears together.
The surgery will be completed within
approximately one hour. Surgeon makes an oval shaped incision behind the year
in the crease. The then removes the skin and the cartilage is exposed. Helix reshaped fold of the year followed by
anti-helix fold of the ear are reshaped. Sutures are used to reposition the cartilage
at the top of the ear closer to head. In the next step the surgeon weakens some
cartilage through a series of incisions and sets the entire ear close to head and
suturing is done to make the new position permanent. The outer incisions are
closed and a dressing is provided to cover the ears that have undergone surgical
procedure. Bandages will be replaced by lighter dressing within a few days.
External stitches will be undone within a week.
It will
take 2-3 months for complete recovery although the results of the surgery will
be visible on completion of the surgical procedure.
